Cassi

Sanarus

Pleasanton, California 2003

Cassi is the first completely self-contained, fully automated, hand held single use breast biopsy device used to obtain tissue samples of breast tumors. The entire procedure is performed through a three to four millimeter incision in the breast.  A small needle is placed directly into the tumor and once placement is confirmed, a quick “stick-freeze” immobilizes the targeted tissue, while an outer sheath automatically rotates forward and removes a large tissue sample for pathological evaluation.
