Alexza is an emerging pharmaceutical company with technology that vaporizes unformulated drug compound to form a condensation aerosol that allows rapid systemic drug delivery through deep lung inhalation. The drug is vaporized by rapidly heating which turns the drug film into a vapor. The patient draws the drug into the lungs.

In the early stages of development, Compass was involved in the research and development of the delivery device. An early prototype was code named Piccolo for which we provided design and engineering services.
